ENVIRONMENT
HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH YOUR INSPIRATION
You want to make sure your environment is clean, safe and comfortable for you. When you are at ease with your surroundings, incredible things can happen! We strive to offer the Spirit Of The Flute Classes in these conditions. Whether you are learning to play for the first time, or you've been playing for decades - it's important to always feel comfortable.
EXPERIENCE
THERE IS NO "GOOD" OR "BAD"
Everyone comes from a different place. Someone that has 30 years of playing a clarinet will most likely pick up on techniques faster than someone who has not played an instrument before. Having experiences in woodwinds will certainly boost the progression of your skill and playing ability, but it most certainly isn't required. In fact, we all start somewhere - and it's usually at the beginning. There is no good or bad - just more experienced. Remember, you build experience by doing - the more you play, the more efficient you become.
EDUCATION
THE MORE YOU LEARN, THE MORE YOU'LL KNOW
Learning to play a new instrument is always challenging. Learning to do anything for the first time is difficult. Think of how children grow - they learn something new every day, therefore their minds are accustomed to capacitating a plethora of information on a constant level. By the time we reach adulthood, we feel as though our brains are full - it's harder to learn things because our "committee" (mind) is always at work analyzing a better way, or a different way, or simply saying, "I can't do that" … Be open minded when learning something new. Engage your mind and your will power. Remember that saying, you can do anything you put your mind to? It's true. Let's do it!
ENCOURAGEMENT
A FOUNDATION OF "YES, YOU CAN!"
Encouragement is always appreciated and vital for growth - especially when learning something new and unfamiliar. Fear not, we are a loving bunch of people that all share the same goal … to make beautiful music and share the songs from within our souls! Surround yourself with folks that will support your cause. Be open to constructive criticism.
